HCC New Johnsonville Partners with Red Cross for Local Blood Drive
Mar, 2025
Recently Hood Container New Johnsonville, one of our paper mills, partnered with local Red Cross to host a blood drive. This event has been a longstanding engagement with the Red Cross spanning the last 15 years. Throughout the years, having blood drives like these have produced a total of 567 units, or 71 gallons, of blood from our employees. The Red Cross estimate that 3 lives can be saved per every unit donated, meaning an estimated 1701 lives have been saved by our team at New Johnsonville by supporting local efforts and making investments in the communities like these blood drives. Events like this also encourage first time donors to participate whereas they may not have sought out opportunities on their own. Since starting these events, New Johnsonville has had 66 first time donors.
This particular event in March provided the opportunity to 14 employees to get involved. One employee, Derrick Skelton stated, “Consider donating blood, a life. Give the gift that your body can replenish.”
