Operations by Acquiring Operations in the Growing Piedmont Area of SC.
ATLANTA, GEORGIA – August 28, 2019 Hood Container Corporation announced today that Stronghaven Incorporated, its corrugated packaging division, has acquired the corrugated packaging business of Simpsonville, SC-based Progressive Packaging Inc. The transaction includes all of Progressive Packaging’s design, manufacturing, assembly, and fulfillment operations in both the Greenville Spartanburg area as well as Early Branch, South Carolina.
Russ Crowe, President of Progressive Packaging, shared the following comments regarding the business and transaction. “For twenty-five years, Progressive Packaging has been focused on the foundation of family values. Kim and I pride ourselves on the confidence that those principles will not only be maintained but enhanced and carried forward with Hood Container as Progressive will compliment not only Stronghaven’s footprint but their organizational values. Our employees and our customers are the most important allies to the ever-changing challenges that the corrugated industry faces from worldwide pressures. Progressive’s acquisition by Hood will solidify its supply chain in the southeast region and strengthen Stronghaven’s coverage of the eastern seaboard. On a personal note, Kim and I know our fathers would agree that this is a proud moment and we look forward to where Hood takes this group in the many years to come.”
Charlie Hodges, President and COO of Hood Container Corporation, commented “Progressive Packaging has a long history of providing outstanding products and services to customers in the Piedmont, low country areas of South Carolina and their entire customer base. From their beginnings in the mid-90s, Kim and Russ Crowe have epitomized a “customer first” philosophy and focused on “exceeding their customers’ expectations”, which is a core value of Hood and Stronghaven. Progressive’s facilities in South Carolina extend Stronghaven’s reach into this growing economic region and provides a strategic extension of our company’s reach along the eastern seaboard. We are pleased to welcome all the Progressive Packaging employees to the Hood organization.”
John Johnson, Vice President and CFO of Hood Companies, Inc. added, “The addition of Progressive Packaging, Inc. and its outstanding employees and valued customers marks the twelfth strategic growth transaction for Hood Container since its inception in 2012.” As with other growth opportunities completed over the past seven years, we value tremendously the relationships we have developed with business owners and operators such as Kim and Russ Crowe. Hood, also a family-owned business, believes its core values and culture is strengthened by the management and employee teams that join Hood through acquired organizations such as Progressive Packaging, and we look forward to the continued opportunities that are created with the company’s growth.”
Stronghaven operates locations in eight states east of the Mississippi River as well as Texas and California. Hood Container Corporation also owns and operates linerboard, medium, and specialty paper manufacturing operations in New Johnsonville, TN, and St. Francisville, LA.
